Beyond Labels Journey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Sean Palmer recognises that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and he is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and respectful environment in all mentoring sessions, workshops, and seminars.

2. Scope of this Policy
This policy applies to all:
- 1:1 mentoring sessions (online or in person)
- School and organisational workshops
- Seminars and talks
- Any communication relating to these services
3. DBS and Safeguarding Training
Sean Palmer holds an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. He has completed safeguarding training up to Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) level and continues to undertake regular safeguarding updates and training to ensure knowledge remains current and aligned with best practice.
4. Safeguarding Commitment
Sean Palmer is committed to:
- Treating all individuals with respect and dignity
- Providing a safe and supportive environment
- Listening carefully to any concerns raised
- Acting appropriately on any safeguarding concerns
- Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
5. Recognising and Responding to Concerns
If a safeguarding concern arises during or after a session, it will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.
Depending on the nature of the concern, this may include:
- Recording the concern
- Discussing with relevant safeguarding leads (e.g. school DSL where applicable)
- Referring to appropriate external safeguarding services (e.g. local authority safeguarding teams)
- Contacting emergency services if there is an immediate risk of harm
Sean Palmer does not investigate allegations but will act in line with safeguarding procedures and guidance.
6. Boundaries of Service
Sean Palmer provides mentoring, lived-experience insight, and educational support.
Services do not include:
- Medical diagnosis or treatment
- Clinical therapy or psychological intervention
- Crisis intervention services
Participants requiring urgent support will be directed to appropriate professional services.
7. Online Safety (if applicable)
For online sessions:
- Sessions will be conducted in a safe, professional environment
- Where appropriate, sessions involving young people may require a responsible adult to be aware or present
- Confidentiality is maintained unless a safeguarding concern arises
8. Confidentiality
All sessions are treated with respect and confidentiality.
However, confidentiality may be broken if:
- A child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm
- There is a disclosure of risk to self or others
- There is a legal obligation to share information
Where possible, individuals will be informed if information needs to be shared.
